Have you ever noticed that all of a sudden you are aware of something? Something that you have been waiting for and all of a sudden it appears.
That's what happened to me a few weeks ago as I was driving to work and all of a sudden I became aware that there was more light and I could see the beginnings a sunrise. My heart began to sing and I realized I was getting my first glimpse of spring.
The second thing that caught my eye happened last week. As I was getting out of my car in front of the Qigong studio, I heard the honking of geese. I looked up and right above me, so close that I could almost touch them, where a pair of Canada geese honking their greetings to me. This was a sure sign of spring.
For those of us living here in the North, there are other signs of spring, such as pussy willows, buds on trees, crocuses, robins and rain. After the dark cold days of winter these signs bring a smile and a burst of energy.
In the five elements theory, spring falls under the wood element. This is a time of renewal, rebirth and creation. It’s also the time for spring cleaning, to get rid of the debris that found its way to the surface during the introspective months of winter.
Now is a time to take a look internally and externally and see what needs to be cleared out from both your environment and within yourself. When we clean out what is no longer needed there is room for new growth and expansion. Now is the time to plant the seeds for a new health or life plan. This is the season to let your dreams bloom.
What seeds would you like to plant this spring? How will you tend those seeds during the summer months and how will you feel when you reap the harvest in the fall?
In the same way that you plant a garden with the harvest in mind, so too, you plant your dreams with the end in mind.
